14th Annual Walk for Hope
Held: Saturday, October 14, 2017

Amid a sea of change, one thing remained the same for our 14th annual Walk for Hope: we walked together; we celebrated survivors and thrivers; and we remembered those we have lost.

This year was a year of changes. We changed the mission to include all types of cancer survivors and fighters and we changed our location to reflect our growing community. We were thrilled to find a great home at Mill Park in Augusta with a more accessible route through downtown and onto our beautiful rail trail!

Like every year before this one, the Walk was full of celebration and remembrance and, most of all, a community coming together. The beautiful autumn day brought out more than 1,000 survivors, family members and friends who raised $166,982 of support for cancer care!

Walk for Hope funds are raised locally and stay local, benefitting the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care (HACCC). We are excited to share that 2017 and 2018 Walk funds will support an upgrade of positron emission tomography (PET) technology at the HACCC next year. PET technology is used to detect the smallest of cancers, determine whether cancer has spread in the body, and assess the effectiveness of a treatment plan. This upgrade will advance the HACCC to having the most up-to-date PET technology in the state, enhancing our ability to bring the very best in cancer care to you.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the many area businesses that helped make this genuine community effort possible through sponsorships and gifts in kind:
