We're Thayer when you need us

  • The Thayer Center for Health is being transformed into the largest comprehensive outpatient center in Maine.
  • Health care used to be 60% inpatient, 40% outpatient. Those numbers have flipped and are now 62% outpatient and 38% inpatient. More care is and will be delivered on an outpatient basis.
  • Renovations of $16 million have been under way since the day after the Alfond Center for Health opened in November 2013.
  • Ten practices will move to the 223,546-square-foot Thayer Center for Health by completion of the project.
  • More than 1,000 patients will be seen here each day once renovations are complete.
  • A full-service Emergency Department (ED) is here for you 24/7. If you need to be admitted from the ED at Thayer, we will transport you to the Alfond Center for Health – at no out-of-pocket cost.
  • More parking, a more convenient entrance and coordination of services will enhance the care experience for our patients and families.
  • Thayer is home to a new state-of-the-art CT Scanner that mirrors the one at the Alfond Center for Health.
  • As we transform Thayer, we are continuing to care for people. From the start of renovations in November 2013 to July 28, 2014, we have conducted:
    • 23,751 outpatient labs
    • 14,767 Emergency Department visits
    • 2,269 day surgeries – or surgeries that do not require an overnight stay. Advances in technology allow more surgeries to be done on an outpatient basis, letting patients return to the comfort of their homes quickly and safely.
