Honoring a Legacy, Shaping the Future:
the Campaign to Expand the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care

Project Timeline

Phase 1 includes 28,000 square feet of new construction. Phase 2 of the project begins in Fall 2024 when the shell of the expansion is complete. This overlap allows patient care to continue uninterrupted and minimizes the impact of construction on staff and patient flow.

Impact & Cost

Positive Community Impact

    • Stimulate economic growth by creating jobs in health care and construction, and by attracting highly skilled medical staff and their families to central Maine
    • Reduce social and economic barriers to accessing cancer treatment by keeping care close to home for patients and their families
    • Preserve our environment by reducing carbon emissions, energy and waste, and by prioritizing safer materials
    • Uphold the original vision of a local, holistic center for cancer care where the patient always comes first
