MaineGeneral Health’s
Farms, Forks & Friends!

Some evenings have a little magic and Saturday, April 28 was one of those nights! When the dancing dust settled, our second annual Farms, Forks & Friends event raised a humbling $73,139. Thank you to all those who gifted good health through this effort; your kindness extends far beyond the evening.

Our sponsors laid a solid foundation of support; add to that the collective generosity of everyone who contributed and all four of our causes will be able to make great strides towards meeting patient needs:

  • Comfort Care at Glenridge: with $17,914.75 in contributions, they are closer to enhancing this newly renovated wing for terminal patients with an addition that includes a family room, kitchenette, children’s play area, porch and garden to make these final days the best they can be.
  • Edmund N. Ervin Pediatric Center: winner of this year’s coveted KSB $5K bonus, will receive an amazing $23,064.75! These dollars will support programming for children with developmental, emotional and mental health difficulties. Examples include caregiver education about autism, programming for babies born exposed or addicted to drugs and support for parents with a child newly diagnosed with special needs.
  • Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care: their $16,689.75 will go far in helping enhance patient care and comfort through staff education and various upgrades including new treatment recliners with soothing amenities.
  • Prevention & Health Living (PHL): $15,469.75 will help purchase nicotine patches to help with smoking cessation, supplies for MaineGeneral Harm Reduction is the next step needle exchange program and home radon testing kits for families at risk for lung cancer. Additionally, funds will help pay for equipment, supplies and stipends needed to expand health education programs in our communities.

A special thanks to the farmers, vendors and our own Food & Nutrition team who partnered with us to make this meal as deliciously local as possible!

Please enjoy photos of these memorable moments from the evening!
